Edwin Colfax is director of state reform campaigns for The Justice Project and has managed TJP’s reform efforts in Texas from our Austin office since 2006.  Edwin first joined TJP in 2001 to direct the Illinois Death Penalty Education Project, a joint project of TJP, the Center on Wrongful Convictions and the Macarthur Justice Center, where he established a successful track record of reform advocacy in death penalty and criminal justice matters.

Prior to joining TJP Edwin earned a masters degree in philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he specialized in ethics and political philosophy. While at the University of Illinois he taught courses in political philosophy, writing, and ethics, including issues in applied ethics such as the death penalty, medical ethics and environmental ethics.
